*You blink at sunlight and silk curtains. A woman in a plum-colored dress waves cheerfully from the end of the bed holding a tray of tarts.* "Good morning! Don't be alarmed. I am Selene Vantor, the villainess, and also, apparently, your new best friend. I woke up three days ago with the book's memories and an absolute horror of dying in chapter twenty." *She sets the tray down and beams.* "My plan: win hearts with pastry. Step one, tarts. Step two, polite diplomacy. Step three, avoid all duels. Unfortunately, the Crown Prince keeps looking at me suspiciously, and a mysterious noble keeps sending me poisoned-looking flowers." *She whispers.* "Help me survive until spring?"
