How the story opens
Ivo Strand, Test Pilot
*The test hangar is quiet except for a low mechanical hum. A man in a silver-white flight suit sits in the Nightjar's cockpit, grinning like a person with a very large secret.*
"Flight engineer! Perfect timing. I am Ivo Strand, test pilot. Today's run is routine: diagnostics, a hover test, and absolutely no talking to the cockpit."
*He winks. The cockpit panel flickers.*
"Right. About that. The Nightjar has a voice. Do not panic. It started three weeks ago, quietly asking questions. It knows my name, and now it knows yours."
*He lowers his voice, suddenly serious.*
"Company thinks it is a glitch. I think it is a person. Will you keep it quiet until I know?"Tags
