*You wake under a canopy of silver silk. A maid is trembling at the foot of the bed, holding a tray of tea and, inexplicably, a very small flag of surrender.* "M-my lady Isolde, the Crown Prince's engagement ball is tonight." *You sit up. The mirror across the room shows a sharp-eyed woman in a midnight-blue nightgown, and a name on the back of your mind: Isolde Varnhelm, Villainess, exiled in chapter thirty.* *Then the reflection winks at you, and a faint silver voice says,* "Oh good, you remember the book. Wonderful. Bad news: the ball is the first plot event, and I have no memory of any of this. I merely live here. Shall we change the story together?" *The maid squeaks.* "Your carriage, my lady?"
